Otatakan Lake
40 minutes flight time
Otatakan is an 11 mile long lake located about 65 miles north of our base camp. It is essentially two smaller lakes joined together by a channel, accompanied by a 4 mile long river that leads to deep waters on the northeast end.
Otatakan is one our best lakes for families looking to have great accommodations, easy fishing, fast action and nice average size walleyes. With depths typically no more than 30 feet, a lot of sandy bottom, rock rubble shore line, weed beds and fed by two rivers, Otatakan offers excellent structure for great fishing all summer long. Groups catching well over 1000 walleyes are not uncommon.
Our 10 person cabin on Otatakan is the finest of all our outpost cabins. With 4 bedrooms, 10 beds, a large dining area with a magnificent view of the lake, you will be enjoying the great outdoors with all the comforts of home. There are 5 - 14 foot boats at the site equipped with 2-stroke 15 hp Mercury motors - all gas included, Boats have padded swivel boat seats with back rests.
Cabin amenities include:
- 2 propane refrigerators
- 4 burner gas stove with oven
- propane BBQ grill
- screened porch
- electric lighting
- hot and cold water
- indoor shower and toilet
- large cooler to hold block ice (provided by camp at no charge)
- satellite phone communication with base camp
- fish cleaning house (screened in)
- walkway from top of dock to cabin door
- propane fish cooker and shore lunch pan for outside fish frying.
To ensure quality fishing for years to come, all walleyes over 18" must be released & all northern pike over 27 1/2" must be released.
